 Mission

The AARP Smart Driver course is the nations first and largest refresher course designed for drivers over the age of 50. However, the course is useful for all ages!

For more than 40 years, millions of people have used these classroom and online courses to update their knowledge and skills so they can continue driving safely for as long as possible.

The AARP Driver Safety goal is for participants to become even safer drivers through classroom and online courses, and additional resources.

Volunteers

We need dedicated volunteers as instructors and coordinators to grow our leading educational programs.

Volunteers should have a passion for helping others, and a desire to make our community safer.

Volunteer Instructors will teach the AARP Driver Safety courses at such locations as the Pleasanton Senior Center and other locations in the Tri-Valley area. Classroom time can run 4 hours or 8 hours (which can be split into 2 consecutive 4-hour weeks) depending on the course.

All training, materials and volunteer support staff are provided by AARP.

Volunteers should be experienced adult drivers who have classroom teaching or training experience.
